Primary School with 12 Classrooms and Gymnasium

Situation

A primary school in Canton Aargau with 12 classrooms, a gymnasium and 280 students had an outdated WiFi network that only worked in 4 rooms. The municipality's 1:1 iPad initiative required comprehensive WiFi coverage. There was no separation between teacher and student networks and no content filtering.

Solution

Digital Runners installed a UniFi Enterprise Fortress Gateway for the entire campus, two Switch Enterprise 48 PoE units for the floors and 14 U7 Pro Max access points -- one per classroom plus one each in the assembly hall and gymnasium. Three VLANs separate students, teachers and administration. DNS-based content filtering protects the student network. Four G5 Bullet cameras monitor the outdoor areas.

Result

All 280 iPads connect simultaneously without issues. Teachers have a separate, fast network, and administration is completely isolated. Content filtering blocks inappropriate content automatically. Investment: approximately CHF 16,500, partially funded by the municipality.
