Medical Practice with 5 Treatment Rooms

Situation

A group practice in Zurich with 3 doctors, 4 medical assistants and 5 treatment rooms had an outdated consumer WiFi setup. Patient data was running on the same network as guest WiFi -- a GDPR risk. Connection drops while using the practice information system (PIS) caused daily frustration.

Solution

Digital Runners installed a UniFi Cloud Gateway Ultra as the central firewall, a Switch Pro 24 PoE for structured cabling, and 4 U7 Pro access points -- one per treatment room and one in the reception area. Three VLANs were configured: medical devices, staff and guest WiFi. Two G5 Turret Ultra cameras secure the entrance and medication storage.

Result

The practice now has a fully GDPR-compliant network with stable WiFi coverage in every room. The PIS runs without interruptions, and patients use a secure, separated guest WiFi. The investment was approximately CHF 4,500 including installation.
